The Kinds of Bloggers

Having read so many blogs... I definitely see similarities between some of the bloggers and I thought it might be interesting to try and come up with blogger types. Do you think you fit into one of these? Or, have I missed one you think should be added?

The Blogaman: A blogger who is in touch with the deeper elements of the world. The blogaman searches for answers and seeks to share their wisdom with the rest of the blogosphere.

The Blogtivist: A blogger who seeks to make change. They provide thought-provoking and persuasive arguments. Their goal is to improve something.

The Blogitician: Their blog includes some posts similar to the blogtivist, but their posts tend to be focused more on the debate, than the cause. They include propoganda to further their cause and obviously tailor their site to gain more support.

The Blogster: Life's a game and there is humor to be found in every occasion - from every day activities to plain 'ole fashioned jokes and silly videos.

The Blogolescent: A blog with posts that display a person on the cusp of emerging into the stress and joy of mature life... mortgage, marriage, children, college, career, etc. Posts can range from rants on parents to emotional entries coping with friends, school, and hormones. These blogs also may include many posts of nights out at the bar or silly road trips with roommates.

The Blom: Yes, she is a blogging mom. She writes about what she loves - her family. Pictures of the drooling baby, little reflections of words and lessons learned... and the blogs share woes, heartache, wisdom, advice and support for other bloms.

The Blusinesser: The blog is for business information, tools and advice tailored specifically for businesses or business-minded folks.

The Blogvertiser: This blogger wants CASH!! Adsense, adbrites, blogger ads, the ads abound and readers get the feel that seeing the ad is more important to the blog owner than enjoying the content offered.

So... who am I missing?

I think this is a pretty concise list! I guess I'd be a blogolescent cross blogster. I hope! Definitely not political, and not a momma blog.

You can tell you've been reading hundreds of blogs, that's for sure!

Thanks for a bit of a laugh!

How about "blogserver"? Someone who writes about life, sometimes with humour, but without the preachy tone of the Blogaman.

Blogancholy - one whom self loathes to the point of despair. Wears black on the outside because black is how they feel on the inside. Main objective is to depress the hell out of everyone.

How about the bleative crogger? The blogs I enjoy most are the ones that inspire me to greater creativity.

What about blogebrity? Some blogs are so big that long essays on a trip to the grocery store get 15,000 hits. Thanks for stopping by my site!

OOOO... I can't believe I missed Blogancholy and Blogebrity!!! Totally need to go on the list... and so does blogserver... I think we'll need a list II to add on these new ones!

Thanks for some excellent suggestions :)

These are hilarious! I shudder to think which category I fall in (somewhere between Blogalescent, Blom and Blogster).

Great Post!!

I'd have to say I'm a blomster... A mommy blogger who find the humor in everyday life. What can I say? I'm the blomb! ;)

Have no idea where I fit. We cannot know how others see us. Perhaps a VERY good thing...
But not blom or blogolescent.
Is there a Blot category?
As in landscape and/or escutcheon?

You forgot us writers who are blogging for our audience. Not sure what you'd call us; I have a hard enough time naming bands!!!

I would have to say I fit best in the blogaman category, but not in a preachy way! So maybe I'm Laurie's description of blogserver instead.

As much as I don't like to categorize myself, I love categories. They are what comedy is made of. For that purpose, I am most unabashedly a "blom." In real life, I'm still trying to figure out where I fit in.

Hi Rashenbo - thanks for popping over to my blog and commenting. Mind if we link?

This is a great post. Guess you've noticed how the ones that deal with aspects of blogging are always the ones that attract most feedback. Nothing a blogger loves more than a bit of navel-gazing!

Trust me! I can honestly say I fit into all the first 4 categories - so maybe Misfit-mutlitasking-ger ...

Nice post. I haven't read all the comments, but what about the cultureblogger (or litblogger)? Most of the blogs I read are about books or libraries or publishing, or some combination. I don't think that this is covered in your list but I could be wrong ("single topic blog"?)
In my bloglines subscription I dive up the ones I read into:
A daily read
Crime fiction
Humour
Library
Literary
Miscelleneous
Science
Web Tech

Also, I have noted that many blogs are in several of the above categories at once. For example your mommy blog category -- I follow several blogs which are by mommys but the bloggers don't always write about that one aspect of their lives (the drooling baby that is).

How about Blogomaniac....anything and everything, or,
Blogolomaniac....blogging for the power! (that's me by the way)

I think I could fit into that Blogomaniac that Confucious Trevaskis described. My blog has stuff that's funny to me, stuff that irritates me, stuff that I just need out of my head and somewhere else, and definitely stuff about my children...I focus amazingly well in real life, though;>

I can honestly say that I'm all of those with the exception of the last one. What does that make me? A split bloganality?

I'm a self-confessed Blogoholic, maintaining multiple blogs as well as faithful readership of many others. My main blog is like a daily journal, and subjects are all over the board. I'm one of those blogging addicts who takes notes during Girls Night so I can blog about it later.

Ok, I think I'm definitely going to have to make a second blogger type post and include all these you guys have been making up!

:) I think I probably fall into well, let's just say more than two!

I doubt it's possible to come up with a complete list of Blogger Types. There are so many and every time you think you've listed them all you find another blog that doesn't fit into any of the categories.

I see a lot of culture blogs or arts blogs and there could be a dozen or more sub-categories of those - music, painting, books, movies, history, pop culture, science fiction and on and on. And there are some who write about culture and some who just post images and links or just images.

There are bloggers who just link to odd stuff with little or no comment. The list could be endless but it's fun to try and categorize anyway, isn't it? :-)

I think I'm one of those multiple category bloggers.

By the way, it seems sort of odd that some people associate the "Blogaman" as "preachy". Any of the categories could be preachy but to me the Blogaman type seems the least likely to be preachy... rather more reflective.

Sorry for the two-in-a-row.

I tend to be all over the map; each post varys from one type to the next. I think one category you missed might be the "Blogoet" or the "Blogartist", someone who uses poetry or other descriptive text to create a dreamy, artistic mood ... who uses words like paint to color the blank canvas/screen.

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
