13 things that have kept us apart!
I haven't even spent five minutes in the blogosphere since last week. The craziness from Friday continued on through the weekend and early part of this week... Let's see what's happened since Friday morning - here they are... 13 things that have kept me 5,000 miles from the blogosphere.
1. Severe abdominal pain of unknown source.... or so says the ER release form that I got when I spent a day in the emergency room with my 9 year old. She had some severe pain a month or two ago and I took her to the doctor and he saw nothing troubling and eventually it went away. It's back and this time we took her straight to the hospital. It's incredibly tender to touch... but blood tests and xrays couldn't identify it... so now we play the waiting game.
2. The joy of seven year glee... The pea pie turns 7 this month and I've been trying to get her party scheduled and invitations together. The party is this Saturday.
3. My mother who loves me.... and feels the need to call me every evening to ask what my daughter wants for her birthday or how my other daughter is... or if I saw American Idol... or if I wrote my grandmother...
4. Lincoln Child's Deep Storm (book I finished and need to write a review on)
5. Trudi Canavan's Priestess of the White (which I also finished and need to review)
6. Trudi Canavan's Last of the Wilds (ditto)
7. Read Blanchard's Raving Fans.... not by choice mind you. I was given a week to read it for work and starting soon we're all going to talk about our thoughts on customer service... every day... each morning, before we start our day. Oh may the joy never end.
8. The job which has lost it's appeal. The CEO completely wigged out on Friday, treated the employees in a completely unacceptable fashion and when I let him know he was pushing me to look for another job he responded by telling me they may just go ahead and hire some one soon so that there isn't a gap in the service provided to the clients (yeah, I really felt appreciated after that).
9. The beginnings of the job search. So I brushed off my resume and sent it out on Saturday. I've already had five calls in response. I'm thinking it's a good sign so far.
10. Longer than usual work days... It's called the work harder, get criticized more, get more tasks, have shorter timelines and get nothing in return business model... oh yeah... I love working 10 to 11 hour days. (see #9)
11. Hunger Strike in response to Idol and oh how it surfs through the net - really... I don't know
if I want to criticize the stupidity or pity the thought that this is the most important thing in someone's life. Unless it's all a great big joke.... then Har Har Har
12. Family funday. Saturday (to release some of last week's pent up energy and before #1) we went to the Children's Museum as a family outing.
13. Let's see... Oh yeah, a UTI, a special gift for me from the "Life Sucks Fairy, Ha Ha Ha".
So, it's been an interesting couple of days for me.

Oh you poor thing. Much sympathy to # 1, my daughter suffers from encopresis, and I've spent many a time in the ER, and big hugs to #13 those things BITE.
Oh, Rashenbo -- I'm sorry to hear your nine year old is feeling poorly! I hope you get some answers and that she's feeling good again soon.
And Happy Birthday to your Pea Pie -- what a cute endearment. :)
Happy Thursday Thirteen to you -- hang in there. My thoughts are with you!
Oh, I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time! Hope your little one is ok, and that you feel better soon!
Ugh, all good reasons, hope the little one is feeling better!!
Lisa - Lil' Duck Duck
Okay, how can I help?
Hang in there. You're getting dumped on right now, that's for sure. It won't last, believe it or not.
Have fun at the birthday party. They're growing up!!!
Ugh. Sounds rough.
I hope things get better soon.
Geez, what a terrible week! Hugs on the UTI and mystery stomach ailment for the kiddo. I hope you're both on the mend!
What is it with people having bad weeks? I have no idea if Mercury's in retrograde...but it certainly seems that way!
Take the CEO's words to heart. If s/he's being that much of a butthead, polish up and get the heck out of there. Hey - you just completed your degree! That will add some punch to the resume!!
Best of luck, sending good vibes your way.
#13 - OUCH! I feel your pain.
Like right now, I seriously sympathize, if you know what I mean!!
Thank you guys, so nice for the lovely comments. The 9 year old has EDS (genetic disorder) so sometimes she is more sensitive to issues around connective tissue. They thought she might have appendicitis.. but she doesn't meet all the symptoms and the blood tests show that she doesn't have it.
Life gets busy every now and again. It's just one of those waves that is a little higher than usual. I just need to ride it out. Things are already settling down. Hence why I'm able to spend some online time tonight :D
I work for a children's museum, and I love seeing all of the familys on their "Family Funday" saturdays! If only there were extra hours in the day to blog and have family fundays every day!
13 valid reasons for not blogging! Welcome back. Have a great weekend with your family.
Oh, I'm very familiar with UTI's. My sympathies :(
Thx for visiting me.
What a week! I hope your daughter is feeling better by now and that they can figure it out and fix it quickly.
Good luck with the job search, it sounds like you are definitely in need of a more reasonable place to work.
My TT is up too, but for some reason they've sucked me into the vortex of comment moderation so the link hasn't appeared on the TT page yet. Who knew that writing about life in Turkey was subversive...
Oh, {{{hugs}}} -- it's horrible to have a sick child. And isn't it frustrating how Life tends to throw a whole bunch of stuff at you all at once?
Good luck working everything out.
Wow, what a week. I hope you'll feel better soon and have some quality time for yourself!
Thanks for visiting my cars TT.
Well, I hope you find out what's wrong and get to feeling better soon!
I'm sorry your work is so crappy right now. Looking for a fresh start sounds like a great idea. And I hate it when there is something wrong with my girls and I don't know what it is. Very frustrating.
Big HUGS!!
Hope all is well with your daugther and that you find the job of your dreams. The hunger strike video was interesting. I'm so out of the Idol loop, but it turns out even Old Christine watches Idol, according to this week's episode. I DO watch that!
I'm reading poetry on St. Patrick's Day with a brogue!
What a week! Hope the job hunt goes well and a Happy Birthday to the "pea pie"!
UTIs are the devil. Or, the debil, as my son would say.
Sorry your week was not as bright as it should have been
Wishing you good and perfect health for your daughter
and better days ahead
sounds like it could be the appendix?
email has stopped my mother from the continued phone calls!
Want to say how sorry I am about your daughter severe pain. I hope that the doctors will find out what the problem is, soon. I wish her a speedy recovery. I will keep her in my prayers :)
Sound like your life have taken a completely busy turn, I hope soon you can relax and enjoy your times in peace :)
Happy T13 - have good day!
Hope you feel better. Its not fun being taken away from all of us because you are ill.
I'm sorry about your son! It's been tough for me to blog this week, too. (But I don't have such good excuses!) I look forward to hearing about those books!
Happy TT!
Hang in there... this too shall pass!
Selena
We have kids of about the same age! (My oldest turned 9 in December and kid #2 will be 7 in April.) Sorry about the ER visit and the UTI. Those suck.
Ignore my name on Mr. Linky, it posted before I could enter my URL. My laptop has been screwy all day like that.
What a busy week! I hope your little girl is ok.
I'm sorry your week sucked - especially at work. I know exactly how that unappreciated feeling goes - ergo I quit my job last week.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your little ones.
That sucks about your CEO. What a terrible week you've had. :-(
Hope your daughter is feeling better. I hate to see a child hurt - makes one want to hurt for them, and we can't.
As for the CEO and your job - do as someone else said - find another one. I hate to see someone run over at work - my daughter is done that way. They know she has to have the job - a single Mom with 4 kids. And, she loves her job - just not some of the people she has to work with.
hmmm....It has been a week of change and release no doubt about that.
I hope you get a new job.
Happy Birthday to your 7yo.
And, I hope the 9 yo feels better soon. I would just like to tell to you that my sister and I both had our appendix's out and it did not act like "appendicitis". My appendix did not show up in the blood work at all. My expensive doctor said they would "call it chronic appendix issues if they believed such a thing. But they don't. So be glad that something that was not working was removed. And, does it really matter what it was, since it was all the pathology was negative." And, that is a 200,000 medical eduation for you!
Have a better weekend!
1st - my daughtr went thru the severe stomache pains - as it turned out it was being caused by her not going pee pee - they did an exploratory and found no blockage -they said her bladder was as large as an adult
2nd - I have seen the automatic logging code you have at he bottom of your Thursday Thirteen. I went to the site but when I try and get the code it doesn't do the form on my blog it links and posts at that site - how do you get this code and set it up???
Sorry to hear that you've had a bad week, I hope that next week is better for you. xx
It is very necessary to introduce parents to email. You will get a lot of recycled jokes at first, but it will save so much time in the long run!
I hope your daughter feels better.
Oiy and I thought I was having a bad week. Sorry to hear things have been a bit hectic. Hopefully they will calm down soon and you can get back to a normal life. Birthday wishes to the 7 year old and I really hope the 9 year old is better soon. Seems impossible to think with the medical technology out there they can't find out what is causing a little girl to hurt like that! AND good luck in the job searching department.
I hope the little one feels better.
