A fun little movie for writers

Have you seen Stranger than Fiction? I'm not a big Will Ferrell fan, yes, I know - how could I claim to have a sense of humor and not like him! I just find his style over the top on more than a few of his movies. I did enjoy Old School... I refuse to watch Elf... I just can't do it...

Anyway, I didn't go see this movie in the theater because it was one of "his movies" and I thought I wouldn't like it. However, the premise of the movie was interesting enough that I did pick it up at the video store.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE
It's not a "Will Ferrell Movie" and instead it's a fun little movie that I found particularly amusing. Emma Thompson plays a fantastic writer with quirks and obsessions. It was like seeing some of my neurotic writer friends on screen! Will Ferrell plays his role of the "tax man" perfectly. Dustin Hoffman plays a literature professor, the kind that makes me want to sign up for classes at whatever school he would teach at... I love how important, "little did he know" is to the story!
I just wanted to share that. I'm done now. Okthankstalktoyoulater!

I meant to see this movie in theaters and either I got sidetracked or it didn't stay long. But a friend of mine bought the DVD the other day, so I'll have to get to the video store and rent it. Thanks for the reminder!

P.S.
Although I am unimpressed with some of W.F.'s movies, my favorites are Talladega Nights, Wedding Crashers, and Elf (which I watch every Christmas). He was also hilarious in Jay & Silent Bob strike back.

I cannot stand Wil Ferrel or Jack Black, and I have a terrific sense of humor. No apologies are required for not liking a particular comic's style.

I thought about watching this movie, but I just can't get past who stars in it.

I did like Jay & Silent Bob too :) Great movie.

I hear ya Written, but this is not like any of his other movies. No over the top comedy here. It really was good.

I loved this movie and also did not think Will Ferrell was his typical self :-)

Yes, I love this movie!

It's rare that I like a movie more than expected after seeing the preview a few hundred times or so :) but this one was something to remember.

i am also no big will ferrell fan, too over the top. but i think that, like jim carrey and so many comedians before him, this was a good transition film to more dramatic work.

i have blogged about my love of this film TWICE already, i've seen it i think 4 times and that was all in the theatre. i love this movie to death.

Ooh! I may have to rent this. I'm not a big Will Ferrel fan either and I forgot that was him in Jay and Silent Bob. (But even if I LOVE this movie, I'm still not watchin' Elf. Nope. Can't make me.)

Will Ferrell is okay for me, not in large doses, but I knew I'd see this movie when I saw the commercials. Emma Thompson is just awesome. And Queen Latifah is good in the movie, too. I keep forgetting it's out on DVD, though. I may have to pick it up this weekend.
