Crappy Poetry Hour

Swirling crimson liquid, thrums with vibrations;
Whirls spread out, farther, faster, stronger;
The soul's elixir vociferous with discord.

A moment's breath and swell, the flood rushes;
The sea of red reigns over all.

With a scream the barrier is torn asunder;
The deluge breaks free and
Life glistens with its dew.

Oh, don't cut yourself down like that, Rash! Angry, yes. Crappy, no.

I'm glad to see you joining the train!

Wench - put your link on the poetry blog so peeps know to come by. BTW - with that title in tandem with the poem i totally love this. Takes the poem from one interpretation into another. It became about the process of writing when i reread it. Fabulous!

I love it when "wench" can be used in conversation. It's such a fun word :) Makes me feel all piratey! ARGH!

Well, I don't ride this train very often. So I thought I'd just do a little bit this time around :)

Your too modest. Your poem is excellent. And guess what I thought of while reading it? CHILD BIRTH.

See? Good poetry speaks to people in different voices. Just sayin.

I thought of anger and frustration. But you end with the image of dew, and so I found myself thinking of process, how you get through the whatever-it-is that has you enraged.

In college, my poetry professor and creative writing professor were married. They happened to compare my endless reams of poetry with violent and bloody imagery (I was working through some issues, including a bad marriage) and my crappy short stories and essays about various violent and bloody events (motorcycle accidents, my military experiences, a rabid cat we had to shoot in the back yard) and came up with the idea that I was suicidal.

I wasn't, but that always stuck with me as a lesson in how one person's catharsis can be misinterpreted, lol!

I don't know what that has to do with your poem, except it reminded me a bit of what I used to write.

The really great thing about poetry is that you can interpret to mean whatever is meaningful to you. If you read the words and it evokes a response... then it was a bit of poetry (at least in my opinion).

Written, you've got your finger most on the tail so to speak. I was furious over something and trying to work through it. :)
